Online Payments

Plug Yoco Payments into your website

You can now accept payments with Yoco from your online store. Integrate the Yoco payment gateway into your Woocommerce, Wordpress or Wix website, and start accepting online payments immediately.

How does it work?

Once you integrate Yoco into your online store, your customer will see a new Yoco payment method on your checkout page. When your customer chooses to pay via Yoco, a pop-up message appears on their screen. They enter their credit or debit card details, click 'submit', and then complete the 3D-Secure authorisation with a One-Time-PIN. After payment, your customer is redirected to the ‘Checkout Result’ page, and they also receive an email to confirm their payment status.

What are the fees?

We launched online card payments at a promotional rate until 1 October 2020. We did this to help our customers through the first few months of the COVID-19 lockdown. However, online payments cost on average 0.5% more than card machine payments, so we could not keep this promotional price forever.

All Yoco customers that already use online payments (i.e. those who transacted prior to 1 October) will remain on the 2.95% discounted rate until 1 February 2021. For new customers, online payment pricing will start at 3.40% (ex. VAT) from 1 October 2020, and will tier down in the same way that rates for in-person card payments do.

How do I get paid?

All payments are linked to your existing Yoco Account, and money will be paid out within 2 business days as part of your usual payouts.

What cards are accepted?

All VISA and MasterCard cards that are 3D Secure enabled are accepted, including international cards. AMEX and Diners are not currently accepted. Note that all payments need to be in South African Rands.

Is this only available for Woocommerce / Wordpress and Wix websites?

At this time, yes. However, we are working on integrating the plugin to other website platforms. If you're not using Wordpress, please let us know if you are interested in using Yoco payments on your website.

We do also have developer documentation available, should you wish to integrate your website with the Yoco payment gateway yourself.  Documentation can be found here
