POS: Making a sale on the Point of Sale app


The SELL screen is your gateway to making sales in the Point of Sale app. When you first download the app, your default payment methods will be card or cash, but you can also add your own custom payment methods.

  IMPORTANT: Only the default card payment method will process card transactions with your Yoco card reader. Any custom payment methods won't be authorised and processed through Yoco. 

You can make a sale by either entering an amount, selecting items (products) and then making a sale, or if you're using the iPad or Android tablet apps, entering products via the shortcut pages and then making a sale. Here's how:

SELL: Enter amount


 iPhone  iPad  Phone  Tablet

  1. From the menu top left, select SELL
  2. The SELL screen will default to ENTER AMOUNT. Enter your sale amount on the keypad.

  3. Once you've entered an amount, select the green Charge button at the bottom of the screen.

  4. A pop up will display asking you to select the payment method. Choose your payment method. Let's assume you're doing a card transaction.

  5. Tips enabled: If you have tips enabled, a screen will display asking you to enter the tendered amount. If you don't have tips enabled, the tendered screen won't display.
      1. Either enter a larger amount than the sale amount, which is your sale amount plus your tip amount, or...

      2. ...just select Pay at the bottom right, which will then display prompts on your card reader asking your customer to add a tip or not.

  6. If you're doing a card transaction, a pop-up will display prompting you to insert or swipe a card. Insert your customer's card.

  7. Once the card has been inserted or swiped, a pop-up will display prompting your customer to enter their PIN. Hand the card reader to your customer and ask them to enter their PIN.

  8. A pop-up will display displaying that the card transaction is processing.

  9. Once the card transaction has been processed, a pop-up will display asking your customer to remove the card.

  10. If the transaction was processed successfully, a pop-up will display the transaction status, and you can send your customer a digital receipt by selecting Send receipt.

  11. Once you've sent the receipt, select Done.
  12. You're now ready to do your next sale.

  IMPORTANT: Only card transactions will be processed with your Wireless Card Reader. For all other payment methods, follow steps 1 to 4, and then steps 10 to 12.

SELL: All items


If you've set up Brands, Categories and Products, ALL ITEMS allows you to add multiple items (products) to a bill before making a sale.

  1. From the menu top left, select SELL.
  2. The SELL screen will default to ENTER AMOUNT. Select ALL ITEMS to select items (products) to add to your bill.

  3. A list will appear with all the Brands, Categories and Products you've set up.

  4. Scroll down, or search for the Brand, Categories or Product itself that you'd like to add to your bill. Select the product you'd like to add to your bill.

  5. If you have variants enabled, a pop-up will display asking you to select the variant. Select your variant.

  6. When you've added all your products to the bill, and you're ready to make your sale, select the   icon at the bottom left of your SELL screen.

  7. If you'd like to edit the quantity of a specific item on your bill, simply select the item, and a panel will open where you can edit the quantity.

  8. The Edit Bill screen will display all the item (products) you've added to your bill. Here, you can add a note to your bill, add a discount, or if you have tips enabled, add a tip to your bill. When you're ready to finalise your bill, and make the sale, select the green Charge button at the bottom of your screen.

  9. A pop up will display asking you to select the payment method. Choose your payment method. Let's assume you're doing a card transaction.

SELL: Shortcuts (tablet app)


 iPad  Tablet

  1. From the menu top left, select SELL.
  2. At the bottom of your screen, to the right of ALL ITEMS, you'll see the shortcut pages you've created.

  3. Once you've selected your shortcut screen, add products to your bill by selecting them from the shortcut screen.

  4. If you have products with variants enabled, and you add those products to your bill, a pop-up will display asking you to select the variant. Select your variant.

  5. As you add product/s, your bill is to the right of the SELL screen, and displays all the items (products) you've added to your bill.

  6. Before you make your sale, you can add a note to your bill, add a discount, or if you have tips enabled, add a tip to your bill. When you're ready to finalise your bill, and make the sale, select the green Charge button at the bottom of your screen.
